DJ-MediaTools with Local Video Support & Other Improvements and Fixes Released
The latest version of our gallery and slideshow extension was just released. Version 2.8 brings new features (like expected local video support), fixes for user-reported issues, and accessibility improvements (WCAG and Section 508).
Custom Alt and Title Attributes for Slides
You can now add custom ALT and Title attributes for every custom item in DJ-MediaTools. Significant improvement for SEO. This feature works the same as in DJ-ImageSlider.
WCAG 2.0 / Section 508 Accessibility Compatibility for 4 Album Layouts
We’ve updated four layouts, letting users with disabilities navigate throughout layouts: slideshow, slideshow with thumbnails, dabber, and modern slider with the keyboard. Now, the keyboard access is available for all original layouts in DJ-MediaTools (excluding Skitter layout, nivo, and kwicks panel - we’re unable to introduce the accessibility support in those due to them being external scripts).
OG Tags for Sharing Album on Facebook
We’ve added complete OG tags for Albums in MediaTools. Now, when sharing the album on Facebook, it’ll display the following:
- album title as post title (1)
- cover image of the album as the post’s image (2)
- album’s description as post’s description (3)
Add Locally Stored Videos to the Album
You can now add videos stored on your or another server by providing the URL of the .mp4 file.
This is a significant improvement if you want to publish videos other than those from the cloud that are already supported (YouTube, Vimeo, LiveLeak, Yahoo! Movies, MetaCafe).
New Options Available for the Skitter Layout!
The Skitter layout has got even better. You can now set for this layout new options:
- Autoplay
- Pause autoplay
- Show play/pause buttons
- Show next/prev buttons
- Show custom navigation (dots)
- Custom navigation alignment
- Next item delay
Better Responsiveness for Modern Slider
A new feature - Adjusting visible images - was added. Now, it’s even more responsive. It’s now recommended to use the Modern Slider layout instead of the Slider layout, as the Modern one is based on a new and better engine.
