DJ-Commune - the Public Institution WCAG Website Quickstart for Joomla 4 and WordPress
We are proud to present our latest release, another quickstart, which will allow you to create a website for a municipality or any public institution/government website.
DJ-Commune works with the YOOtheme Pro web builder and is available for Joomla 4 and WordPress.
It's the perfect solution if you are obligated to have a website compliant with accessibility guidelines. It contains all the features necessary to create an accessible website that complies with the WCAG standard. The accessibility features make it much easier for people with disabilities to browse the site.
The Joomla Template Version
This time, the Joomla WCAG template, in addition to the already known to our users' extensions:
- DJ-MegaMenu - an advanced, accessible (WCAG/Section 508/ADA) Joomla 4 menu system.
- DJ-Accessibility - an accessibility plugin / a set of tools to help people with disabilities navigate the site.
- DJ-Wcag Improvement (available only with quickstart)
contains the DJ-Events PRO component and, as a preview, the integration of this component with YOOtheme Pro.
The solution (similar to DJ-Catalog2 Integrator) allows you to display content from the component on pages constructed with the help of a web builder, thanks to a particular type of dynamic content developed by us. In the "Events" layout, we used dynamic content from our component on the Yootheme grid element.
On the front page, we used a unique, created by us element to present the Events Grid.
Additionally, for both versions - Joomla and WordPress, we have prepared a unique Slideshow element that uses title and meta for navigation instead of thumbnails:

DJ-Commune, WordPress WCAG theme includes one commercial plugin:
- DJ-Accessibility - an accessibility plugin / a set of tools to help people with disabilities navigate the site. Use its' options to improve the accessibility of your website! You can display accessibility options in a pop-up or a toolbar on your page. It's a standalone plugin but also integrated with the YOOtheme Pro.
Launch a WCAG Compliant Website
DJ-Commune brings all the features necessary to create an accessible website. Under accessibility legislation, public institutions are required to use WCAG templates. The use of such templates also improves its usability and quality and additionally helps to improve a website's SEO.

Accessibility Options
DJ-Commune includes two accessibility tools created to improve the accessibility of your Joomla or WordPress-based website.
- DJ-Accessibility plugin
It’s a WCAG plugin that provides many options to improve the accessibility of your Joomla or WordPress-based website. You can display accessibility options in a pop-up or a toolbar.
Accessibility options pop up - a clear pup-up panel with all the settings. Use the default button design or replace it with the image of your choice.
Accessibility options toolbar - show accessibility options in the modern and transparent toolbar. Decide where to place it on the site. It can be delivered at the top of the page, on its sides, or at the bottom.
- DJ-WcagImprovement plugin
This plugin adds an aria-label for 12 yootheme elements (button, grid, icon, overlay-slider, pagination, panel, panel-slider, popover, slideshow, social, switcher, to top).
It comes only with this quickstart and is purposed to improve Yootheme elements and achieve WCAG AA level compliance.
